The Children's Bereavement Center

About: The Children’s Bereavement Center (CBC) was founded in 1999 by two psychologists, Dr. Carol Berns and Dr. Mindy Cassel, to fill a void in bereavement services for children and families. It is the only ongoing comprehensive bereavement center providing free Peer Support Groups to grieving children and their families in South Florida. In addition the CBC provides educational seminars on bereavement support and professional self-care to community professionals in education and healthcare.
Mission statement: The Children’s Bereavement Center mission is to help children, young adults, and their families adjust to life after the loss of a loved one within a supportive community of their peers, and to promote healthful grief, healing and growth.
